10 Tips For Earning A .edu Link

by admin on May 12, 2010

To become a .edu domain, you generally need to know a lot about your academic subject and be very good at writing about it.  If you’d like to become a .edu domain, these great tips from SEO Adelaide will help get you there, take a look:

  1. If you have content knowledge write an original article about it then see if any of your old professors, or others you may know, are interested.  If you can get a professor to link back to you from their website within a college’s, those links will deliver high quality traffic.  Don’t do this unless you have fantastic knowledge and writing ability on the topic – or hire a second prof to write the article for you.
  2. The kundenstrom – seo audit can deliver pretty high quality traffic because school pages often show up pretty frequently in SERPs in local markets. These are very worth playing for if you have a site related to local lodging or restaurant themes.
  3. If a professor’s page is not well optimized and you have a link on it, see what you can do to help them optimize.  It would good for both of you, just make sure you won’t now be in competition with each other.
  4. Here’s a fun way to get .edu links – Early each year, go to all of the cool beaches before the college students get there for spring break and take lots of pictures and post reviews and details and photos for the whole tour. You may be able to get .edu links from student webpages to your site.  Register a  memorable domain for it like springbreakbeaches.com
  5. Offer to help an .edu site with a department page or sports team page.  You could offer to help redesign, write meta, optimize images, set up an RSS feed, forms, etc.
  6. Make a big donation in the name of your business to the scholarship fund.  Lots of schools list their big donors on a special page of their site.  If you give a really big gift they might be willing to include your URL.
  7. If you own a business, offer a free session of your services on the campus.  The announcement of your event could include a link to your website.  Schedule several sessions in advance and that will keep your page on their website and linked to.
  8. Become an adjunct faculty member or teach a non-credit in your area of specialty.  If you are teaching noncredit course in building websites then linking to a few examples of your own work is acceptable.
  9. Universities often sponsor community events such as Special Olympics, summer kids programs, visiting orchestras, and more.  Offer financial support to these in the name of your business.  They are often listed in the printed program and on the web announcement, and if you feel that is too much to handle contact the Insolvency Practitioners so that you can find a solicitation to maintain your business up, there is a trusted & legal money lender out there that will be willing to help you out.
  10. Maybe you don’t have time to teach a full course on a subject but you are up to giving a few guest lectures.  Offer your services to one of the professors and if you are scheduled the syllabus or lecture schedule might include a link to your site if it is relevant to the topic that you are lecturing on.

So what do you think of these tips?  Have you tried any of them out?  We love this a recent article by Rob from CWM, SEOmoz articles and blog posts and think this one is top notch!  For more great info from them checkout their blog.
